This is probably due to its attempt to use XShm, when the shm limit on
Solaris defaults to something rather small. Add
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax = 8388608
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni = 0x1000
set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg = 0x100
to /etc/system and reboot.
