problems installing gnome on SuSE 6.1

Hi,

I am running SuSE Linux 6.1, and am trying to install gnome.
I got the rpm files from www.gnome.org, put them all in a
separate directory, and typed "rpm -Uvh *.rpm" after which I
got a bunch of error messages saying that libraries such as
libc.so.6, lib,.so.6, etc. could not be located.  I checked and these
are all in the /lib directory.  Does anybody have any suggestions?
