Logging Handlers

What's the scoop on the logging handler functions (in Glib)?

 g_message_set_handler()
 g_warning_set_handler()
 g_error_set_handler()

The docs claim they are all deprecated, "in favour of the new logging
facilities".  But what are the new logging facilities?  Did I overlook
them?  Anyone know what the approved method is of overriding the logging
handlers?
