Can anybody answer a Gimp question for me?

I'm sorry if this is off topic. In the Gimp page, the archives for their
lists stopped months ago, making me think they are no longer lively.

In Gimp, I can find no place to set the default quality value for jpeg
files being saved. Can this be done? I want to cycle through some
files and open them and save them again, and as it currently stands, the
quality value is always 75. Using "save" just saves automatically,
without giving me an option to adjust that value. I have to use "save
as" in order to get the panel to popup so I can change that value. I'm
using gimp 1.6
