Interesting, Daniel Hensley said 'fuser' showed esd using /dev/dsp. Maybe
you just waited a little longer and esd released /dev/dsp before you tried
the fuser.
I think the common theme here is that nothing can connect to the running
esd. Anyone care to try hunting this bug down with strace & esd source
code? If anyone comes up with more info, let me know - I'll try to do more
investigating tomorrow.
