First off, thanks for October Gnome, it is totally stable and slick as
hell. My windows-running housemates are green with envy ;-P
I really love the way the file downloads are done on www.gnome.org/start
. Being able to chose a mirror and have the links automagically point
to the right place is slick. The only problem is that user still have
to shift click 30-40 times to download all of the packages. Ouch. I
bet a lot of curious people are just crusing right on by because they
don't care to spend a few hours babying the download (remember, a lot of
newbies wouldn't dream of using ftp). Is there any way there could be a
"download all packages" button, or perhaps a big tarball or .rpms? I
think I've seen discussion on this in the past, but I'm not certain why
this was never implemented (if the reason is simply time, sorry if I'm
being pushy. Maybe I'll think about a way of scripting the download for
the user...)
Thanks for everything,
Josh
