Hidden APIs in gnome-print

Someone alert the DOJ! There are *secret* functions hidden inside of
libgnomeprint that are *obviously* an attempt to Raph to *illegally*
extend his *monopoly* on Gnome printing architectures!

But seriously: the current CVS incarnation of gnome-print (as well as
the recent releases) builds all sorts of useful functions into the
library, but then doesn't install the associated headers.

What is the recommended course of action for those of us who want to
use things like the GnomeCanvasHacktext item and the gt1_* family of
functions in our apps?

Are these functions going to be exposed by a future gnome-print, or
are they highly subject to change? Just copying the needed function
prototypes and type definitions just seems so... unsavory.
