Did you also upgrade:
librep
rep-gtk
rep-gtk-gnome
rep-gtk-libglade
??
I would recommend that you go and upgrade everything related to sawmill.
Once I did an upgrade of a RH6.1 machine using the 6.2 CD, and even
when I had a newer version of sawmill and the other packages, the CD
"upgraded" them to a lower version, producing that effect that you are
describing. I am not sure, but I think that it didn't "downgraded"
sawmill, only librep, but anyway.
So, I upgraded all the related packages by hand and everything was
fine.
