You can also do it with linuxconf. As root in an xterm type "linuxconf". When
it comes up go to Config/boot mode/Mode/default boot mode, and click on it.
Select the "Text mode & Network" button and accept changes. While you're
there, you can also lengthen the prompt timeout if you're dual booting and
want more time to choose what will boot.
