gnome-libs-1.2.1 install

Going thorugh the installation of gnome, I have gotten to the point of
installing gnome-libs-1.2.1. Below is the error I get at the end of the
configure:

"configure: error: Your db library is missing db 1.85 compatibility
mode." 

This error sounds kind of familiar and I think I should know how to
solve it, but I am drawing a blank.

I am installing gnome on an Ultra 5 running Solaris 8. The version of
gcc is 2.95.2. 

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
