xinerama support?

Will Gnome ever become xinerama aware?
Right now it is a little brain dead, for instance:
gdm puts the login screen in the middle of the displays, half of the login box
on 1 monitor, the other half on the other monitor.
The Gnome panel stretches across the xinerama desktop, but the pager will put
stuff in the middle, just like gdm.
