shell programming made easy

an important feature of unix shell is to be programmable. graphic user
interfaces aren't. i think would be a great improvment to make gnome
programmable as well. a good way to make it should be to create an
easy tool, usable for most users.
my idea is to make recordable a sequence of commands made in gnome
environment. for example: to make a batch to save a file into two
different directories, i mean some thing like this:

click start recording
open file menu
click "save as"
choose directory
mark this step in order the name would be prompted each time
write file name
copy file name to clipboard
ok
open file menu
"save as"
choose second directory
paste file name
ok
stop recording

i think something like that will make shell programming easy for most
user.
