mc and symlinks

Is there a feature in gmc that when I follow a symlink that it will
preserve the current directory structure rather than inheriting the
directory structure of the symlink?  I work in a nfs mounted work area
that uses symlinks to seperate teh logical path from the physical path and
this really messes things up for me when moving around areas?
