I think I saw a mentioning in the CVS log of Esound that there was at least
partial fixes for Alsa 0.5.x compatability checked in. This means you might
get things to work, if you download the CVS version of Esound. If you don't
want to download from CVS, you have to do what I am doing, wait for the next
release:)
