GMC Problem

	When any user on my system (including root and new users) double click 
anything that has a mime type associated with it, it won't open in that 
program.  (This is also true if I right click and choose "Open with..."  I 
can choose what program to use, but then it won't run.)  Can anyone tell me 
either how to fix this problem or where to start looking to try and track 
it down?
