I do this at home and at both of my offices (for a grand total of three NFS
servers and over a dozen clients). Somebody filed a bug report about GNOME not
working over NFS but I haven't been able to reproduce it. ;-)
The only problem I've run into is version skew between my development machines
and the rest of the machines that generally run earlier revisions of several
key packages (normally because I like to keep production machines in sync with
the latest Linux distribution plus updates.) [Of course, backwards and
forwards compatibility are hard to achieve unless the GNOME hackers decide to
freeze configuration file formats in the stable releases.] In one case, GNOME
would not start on a client, but typically just things like icons get displayed
incorrectly. For these machines, it is sufficient to not save your session on
logout.
