Problems with panel displaying icons

I just upgraded my system to all of the latest and greatest packages and the
panel no longer displays full-sized icons. gnome-core 1.0.55's panel was fine.
The strangest part of this problem is that if I right click on the words "Help
system" I see the icon that's supposed to be there in the Launcher properties
dialog box.
Perhaps this is a gdk-pixbuf problem? I'm running 0.8.0.
