command line arguments and gnome-terminal

I've just learned about command-line argument processing in C and I'm
interested in fixing gnome-terminal so it will accept a command line
argument of an image file to use as the background. I also want the
background to be scaled to fill 100% of the background, not tiled.

I don't know for sure if I can make it work, but suppose I could.  How
would I go about convincing the people in charge of Gnome that they
ought to patch in my changes?  Basically I wonder if it is worth the
effort to make these changes...
