Text not showing up...help!

OK...I did it....installed RedHat 6.2 over RedHat 7.0. Now I no longer see
any text in any menus or under icons on the desktop. I've manually removed
all the X files I could find and reinstalled RH 6.2 (without repartioning
because I want to save stuff), but still broken.
