Improvements to gnome request (fairly small)

I have been using gnome since RH6 however there are a couple of things
starting to bug me
1. MIME types - certain mime types seem to to hard coded into control
panel (esp html) and when you try to  add programs the program accepts
then ignores them (seems to insist on netscrape). URL handlers are fine
so http,ftp etc work. Even deleting and recreating html mie types
doesn't work
2. Gnome edit properties why does this default to emacs and have gEdit
hardcoded  so  you need to to type /usr/bin/gedit
