gnome 1.4 not starting

i just upgraded, via red-carpet, to gnome 1.4.  however the gnome that is
starting is the older gnome (that was with Red Hat Fisher). when i do rpm
-q gnome-core i'm getting:

gnome-core-1.3.0-0_helix_4

how do i start 1.4?  is there a trick?
