gconf2d & privileges

Hi!!
	After spent 2 days downloading and compailing gnome2.0, the last thing to do 
its start it, but i can't since i have no privilegues on the machines tu run 
the gconfd-2 daemon. 

By this reason, all programs have the same problem...

GConf error details: Adding client to server's list failed, CORBA error: 
IDL:CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0

nautilus (pid:3739): Eel-WARNING **: GConf error:
  Adding client to server's list failed, CORBA error: 
IDL:CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0

Any solution about this?
