MIME type problems in Gnome 1.4

Hello all,

I have a problem with MIME file type settings in Gnome 1.4. I want to be
able to open rtf files with the Ted application by double-clicking on them
in gmc. So I tried doing this by opening the Edit MIME type option in the
Commands menu of gmc and editing the rtf file type.

I put Ted %f and validate it. When I double-click on the file in gmc
nothing happpens. When I look on the console screen for the Xwindow I just
see the log "./nameofile.rtf". This is funny because I am able to
double-click on other file types (mpeg, jpg) and have the application
launch.

I tried doing it through Gnome Control Center with the MIME types otpion
but that doesnt work either. It is the same as with the menu in gmc.

Weird thing is i'm able to get double-click to work but only in Nautilus if
I use the File and programs types (Im using Gnome Control Center 1.5.9).
But that only works until I close Nautilus cause when I open it again its
not working anymore and it opens Abiword by default. And it has no effect
in gmc.

Anyone have an idea ? Coult it be due to the fact I'm using Gnome Control
Center 1.5.9, the development version ? I say this cause I've noticed that
weird interactions between the MIME type setting and the File and Program
setting. If I modify the File and Program type setting for rtf, it erases
what is in the MIME type setting but not vice-versa.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
