does gtkhtml 1.1.4 support Chinese

I have compiled gtkhtml 1.1.4 yestoday, but just like the previours version
1.1.2, it can't display chinese, I use it in Evolution, and I can't read my
mail which written in Chinese,
does anyone know where is the code that gtkhtml draw its content, I would
like to try to modify the code and make it support Chinese.

Any help are appreciated.
