Problems w/ multiple sessions?

I finally got gnome 2 running on my Debian woody box.  I can use VNC to log in remotely (inetd mode) and get higher resolutions and color depths that the base 640x480 that I can only get on the actual console.  However, I was logged in on the console when I started a new VNC session and I got errors w/ the following items:

geyes:
     Error:  There was a problem oading applet 'OAFIID: GNOME_GeyesApplet'
     Details:  Child process did not give an error message, unknown failure occurred.

stock ticker:
     Error:  There was a problem oading applet 'OAFIID: GNOME_GtikApplet'
     Details:  Child process did not give an error message, unknown failure occurred.

weather report:
     Error:  There was a problem oading applet 'OAFIID: GNOME_GWeatherApplet'
     Details:  Child process did not give an error message, unknown failure occurred.

Apparently they don't like being run at the same time.  I dont' recall this same problem w/ Gnome 1.4.  Has anyone else seen this?
