error in gnome_execute_async

I'm executing a gnome app -- gnumeric -- which in general is stable.

Now I've installed gnumeric-doc, and when I try to access the gnumeric
manual I get the following error msg

Gnome-Message: gnome_execute_async_with_env_fds: returning -1, and the
manual is unreachable.

Any help would be appreciated.
