Cannot get back into GNOME

Hopefully I am on the correct emailing list here .... if not can someone 
please direct me to where someone may be able to help me out?

The issue is I am running Redhat 9.0.  Had some graphics driver issues with 
a program called VMD, so updated my graphics drivers (ATI FireGL X1 256) 
which also required XFree86 to be updated (4.3.0) as well.  Eventually got 
that done.  However, now when I choose GNOME as the session when logging 
in, it doesn't work and goes to Twm.  Is that an issue with XFree86 4.3.0 
or has something been messed with elsewhere?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, this is driving me nuts .... I want 
my GNOME back ;-(
