Help,
I have trouble with my onboard soundcard,
I just migrate from Mandrake to Redhat 8.0.
In soundcard Configuration displaying this:
Vendor: VIA Technologies
Model : VTb233 AC97 Audio Controller
Module: via82cxxx_audio
But the soundcard doesn't working,
I try to open XMMS, and open mp3 file.
Nothing opened. And trying opening gnome-volume-control.
An error ocurred:
"I was not able to open your audio device.
Please check that you have permission to pen /dev/mixer
and make sure you have sound support compiled into your
kernel".
What's goes wrong? I mean the system detect my soundcard right?
How come, i cannot use the soundcard?
How to solve the problem?
Million thanks...
