gnome-terminal problem

Hi all,

I'm suddenly running into a strange error+crash when I try to run gnome-terminal. This started happening within the last couple of days, (probably coincidentally) around the same time I downloaded some updates via up2date for RH 8. If I run it from another terminal window (via Eterm or Xterm) I get the following error:

[trav webguy: trav]$ gnome-terminal

** (gnome-terminal:27870): WARNING **: Failed to load Xft font pattern ".fulldir-10:slant=0:weight=100:pixelsize=13.3333:antialias=True:hintstyle=2:hinting=True:verticallayout=False:autohint=False:globaladvance=True:dpi=96:rgba=0:scale=1:lang=en-US", falling back to default font.

** (gnome-terminal:27870): WARNING **: Failed to load default Xft font.

To the best of my knowledge I haven't messed with my fonts at all. I've tried moving .gconf* and .gnome2* out of the way, but it didn't resolve the problem. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!
