panel, metacity, etc

Hi,
I have a couple of questions.
First, is there a way to configure metacity to remember window sizes and
positions like sawfish does?
Second, this may be a problem with sawfish - I don't know. I have a lower panel
that's set to auto-hide, but if I try to raise it when a window is up and
maximized I have to bring the mouse down, back up, and then back down for the
panel to raise. It almost looks like the panel actually raises the first time
but is behind the window that's up. This doesn't seem to happen with metacity.
Another thing is that any time a dialog pops up in Nautilus, the main Nautilus
window comes to the front and hides the dialog - quite a nusiance.
If there's a positive answer to my first question I'll simply use Metacity since
it doesn't seem to have these problems.
I'm using Debian Unstable BTW.
Thanks,
Moses
