TTF doesn't work under GTK 1 apps

I have installed new TTF with drakfont or KDE font installer.

These fonts are work under GTK2 applications (GIMP 1.3.x, Sodipodi and
others).
Under GTK1 application i can see the font list, but i can not use the
fonts.  With GIMP 1.2.3 Every time i use the new TTF gimp gave me
message "Font '-font attribute- not found"

I check the xfs fontpath, nothing wrong, i also check font.dir and
font.scale in the new TTF.

Is this a distro issues (Mandrake 9.1) or others??

Help! 
I i have project depending on the new TTF fonts...sob sob!...

PS: I also read font HOW TO hoping find some answer. No luck.
