I've noticed this. I _think_ gnome-list became quieter at 
about the same time that http://www.gnomedesktop.org/ and 
http://www.gnomesupport.org/ became popular.

At times last year there was also a lot of cross-posting
between different lists, some of which were very noisy in
themselves.
