Gnome VNC/ gdm problem

I'm having a tough time getting VNC and Gnome to work together. Just when I
thought I had everything setup I ran into a problem with the System /
Administration menu on the Gnome Desktop.

When I log in remotely to gdm via VNC, all goes well. However, when I select
most of the items under Gnome's System / Administration menu nothing
happens.

I am running as root. Here's the output from the process on my box:

Any ideas?
