I did a search on bugzilla, and came across this:

Which gives these directions to disable the userlist:
Workaround for greeter problem running Fedora 10

gconftool-2 --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults  \\
--direct --type bool --set /apps/gdm/simple-greeter/disable_user_list true

I'm not at home at the moment to test this, but I can test later
tonight - but if you want to try it, hopefully this will work for you.
