I am working on xesam-glib which at some point in the future would make a solid corner stone in a "pervasive deskbar" technology for Gnome. I sent a very rough outline of my ideas to the deskbar list in January[1]. If any body else is moving in this direction please let me know (and possibly the deskbar list too).

My progress is slow because I only have little time to devote to Xesam and xesam-glib, but the pieces are slowly coming together.
