Esd:
- introduces extra latency
- does not support 5.1 hardware playback
- has crappy resampling
- there's probably more
Not that alsa is perfect, but when I watch DVDs, I want them to sound
good. People who paid >$100 for their sound hardware, expect that to
actually result in better sound.
