Hi
As it's currently not possible to choose a specific ALSA sound device in
a sane way, I've created some patches to fix that. Essentially, I've
added a HAL-based sound device chooser to the sound capplet and made the
appropriate changes to gst-plugins-good. This should bring manual
editing of custom gstreamer pipelines in gstreamer-properties to an end.
This is obviously GNOME 2.15/2.16 material but I'd like to get early
comments whether my proposed direction makes sense, so we can finally
realize the solution in the 2.15/2.16 timeframe without hurry.
Bugzilla entries with attached patches
- control-center: Sound device selection
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329112
- gstreamer: HAL sound device wrapper plugins
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329106
- gstreamer: Profile support for gconfaudiosink
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329107
And as everybody loves screenshots
- http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=58344
Any comments or suggestions?
Regards,
Jürg
