after installed alsa-lib and rebuilt gst-plugins-base, the
mixer-applet now uses alsa mixer,
and it behave better than with oss mixer, i get real control of the volume .
i thought it is necessary that oss is, i was wrong.

If alsa is available, it is used. OSS support is probed for, which is
why you will get a message that 'this or that app uses obsolete OSS
interface' in your kenrel log (that's probably what made you send this
email). However, alsa is preferred over oss if available.
