I'm trying to sync a Handspring Treo via USB with gnome-pilot. I enter
/dev/ttyUSB1 (tried /dev/ttyUSB0 also) as the Port, select "Handspring
USB" as the Type, choose "Yes, I've used sync software with this pilot
before.", and press the HotSync button.
/var/log/messages (after doing `insmod visor debug=1`) says:
Mar 12 20:42:29 carter kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/2, assigned device number 8
Mar 12 20:42:29 carter kernel: usbserial.c: Handspring Visor converter detected

Mar 12 20:42:29 carter kernel: visor.c: Handspring Visor: port 1, is for Generic use and is bound to ttyUSB0
Mar 12 20:42:29 carter kernel: visor.c: Handspring Visor: port 2, is for HotSync use and is bound to ttyUSB1
Mar 12 20:42:29 carter kernel: usbserial.c: Handspring Visor converter now attached to ttyUSB0 (or usb/tts/0 for devfs)
Mar 12 20:42:29 carter kernel: usbserial.c: Handspring Visor converter now attached to ttyUSB1 (or usb/tts/1 for devfs)
Mar 12 20:42:34 carter kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device 8

Mar 12 20:42:34 carter kernel: usbserial.c: Handspring Visor converter now disconnected from ttyUSB1
and the Treo says:
The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not
be established. Please check your setup and try again.
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks.

"I tried hard to concentrate on defense once, but all I did was
hurt myself. I was terrible. But I was as good as Larry
[Bird]. That man couldn't guard a chair. I loved Larry. I made
the mistake of going drinking with him one time. He did nothing
but drink Budweiser the whole night. Any man who drinks Bud the
whole night can drink."
