[Gnome-print] Bonobo printing ...

Hi,

I've recently been fiddling with remote printing via. Bonobo and
using the rather excellent Meta print support which makes my life very
easy. As of when I commit the 'eog' component will remote-print images, at
least ones without alpha [ it would be extremely appreciated if the rgba
support goes in soon ]. It seems we are a short step away from getting
gnumeric to print excel files with embedded images which would be nice.

The problem is that in order to make bonobo work without
gnome-print I have created a separate library ( in the style of the old
bonobo-xml stuff ). This sucks badly, as it will need separate configure
checks etc. Since it would be IMHO unwise to add a bonobo dependency in
gnome-print [ since stable gnumeric requires gnome-print without bonobo ]
I think we should add a gnome-print dependancy to bonobo and have done
with it.

This would mean I could merge up my print code into the main
-lbonobo and add a single simple configure check. On the down side it
means that everything that uses bonobo has to link gnome-print and libxml
for the gnome-print font support. Perhaps this is too much of a penalty ?

The other alternative which is perhaps nicer is to have a
bonoboPrintConf.sh, this would then need an extra autoconf macro I suppose
to check for bonoboPrint's existance.

        Any ideas ?

                Michael.

Also, since cvs.gnome.org is well broken I can't work ...
