Hej!
Fonts in koi8-r (cyrillic) are supported.
As I can see latin2 and 8859-15 are supproted too.
The weird place was founded in gnome-print-0.29 (and this is still here for 0.32):
gnome_font_get_glyph_width function return 0 instead width for characters with more than 255 numbers.
Patch for gnome-print is on ftp://ftp.gnome.ru/patches
In same place you can find 2 patches for Abiword, that fix incorrect alignment for non-latin1 in Abi.
