ximian-smb branch merged

I just merged the ximian-smb branch. Basically I started from it, merged 
all changes to head since the branch and fixed up some stuff.

I did not merge the change from desktop file links to directories, since 
that would mean we are no longer spec-compliant[1].

I also added some required icons to gnome-icon-theme, so you need that 
from cvs to get the right icons.
