Hi Damian,
Just a quick note to let you know that GM CVS can't open /dev/dsp and
/dev/mixer again. I'm not sure when it happened or why. I was checking
it a few minutes ago and discovered it.
When it failed in the druid I ran lsof /dev/dsp and it came back empty.
I know that this is not an OSS versus Alsa problem because 0.98.5 still
works every time, all the time. I have had it up for weeks before I
upgraded, and was using OSS and not quicknet while in a call because
of the problems I was having with quicknet.
Since when this happens, I can run GM CVS from root ok without the
problem, I would agree that it sounds like a permission problem. But
that doesn't explain why GM CVS can open the dsp and mixer devices at
times. Or why 0.98.5 or any other program that I have that uses the
dsp and mixer devices have no trouble.
I will re-install 0.98.5 and stress it really well. I'll let you know
what I find.
Thanks,
George
