Using strace perhaps?
Also have a look at the output of gnomemeeting -d 3, so that you can see
what plugins are detected. Perhaps that actually the ALSA driver is
detected, but that the Fake Video plugin is not detected, gnomemeeting
-d 3 will tell you this.
If it is the case, that's because your gcc version has a bug, the
solution is to compile with -O1.
That sounds weird actually.
