You will need to do this as both user and as root .
When i did it as tom now it works for ( user ) tom
I do think the rpms need a looking over as the package should run from the
get go :)
I have never had this problem from galeon or nautlis .
after running ( gconftool --install-schema-file
/etc/gconf/schemas/gnomemeeting.schema)
it then writes gnomemeeting into /home/tom/.gconf/apps
So to make things easy just do this as user/root to get it working.
