You can also recompile pwlib (which GnomeMeeting uses) to
use esd.

If you set the environment variable ESDDIR to point to the
installed ESD package (usually something like /usr/local/eds)
and build pwlib, it will stop using OSS and start using ESD
instead.

We had to do this on the Mac OS X platform which has
an ESD implementation, but not an OSS implementaion.
(The Mac guys ported ESD to use the Mac's native audio API)

Ideally I'd like to build pwlib with OSS and ESD support but
currently the way pwlib was written (with just one active sound driver)
prevents this.
