That is possible. Which codec are you using ?
If you are calling Netmeeting clients, just make them install the GSM codec.
If you are calling GnomeMeeting clients, try to use LPC10. IT will give
you the voice of a robot, but it uses few bandwidth.

No, if artsd was giving you problems (blocking the soundcard), it shouldn't
work at all.

I don't think so. Not in GnomeMeeting, but GnomeMeeting uses the H.323 stack
from Equivalence, and perhaps that things have improved in that area.
You should install GM 0.85 (released on tuesday) and give it a try. I hope
things will get better.
