So, I guess copying the .h files to /opt/gnome/include/gconf made things simpler.

Well, when I do ./configure --help , I must say that the explanation isn't enlightening. With just
the configuration above, it doesn't complain. But if you think I should set gconf-prefix and
--with-gconf-exec-prefix , I would appreciate to be told the meaning of "Prefix where GCONF is
installed (optional)" and "Exec prefix" ?

That's the way that Suse73 installs... I only used the RPMs, nothing fancy. The way gconf handles
its files, through 1/gconf/ subdirectories, was out-of-the-box.

There are no libraries found in both directories.
I also noted a /opt/gnome/lib/GConf/1/ with the following:
rw-r--r-- 1 root root 28704 Nov 23 09:43 libgconfbackend-bdb.a
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 861 Nov 23 09:43 libgconfbackend-bdb.la*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 33111 Nov 23 09:43 libgconfbackend-bdb.so*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 47460 Nov 23 09:42 libgconfbackend-xml.a
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 887 Nov 23 09:42 libgconfbackend-xml.la*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 49294 Nov 23 09:43 libgconfbackend-xml.so*
Is there a chance that those are not found at time of linking?
Guilhem.
