Just found out what the problem is:
Some directories have to be created by the SuSEconfig script to run gconfd 
correctly, else installation of schemas will fail. So the solution for the 
problems with the missing keys is:

1. Install the base gnome2 packages
2. run the SuSEconfig scripts
3. Install gnomemeeting

This will be fixed in future releases.
