There were 2 bugs if I remember correctly concerning the devices
detection when you are using Devfs.
Try to upgrade PWLIB to the CVS version and see if it works or not. If
it doesn't work, I fear you will have to debug it yourself. The file to
debug is src/ptlib/unix/oss.cxx
